If your LPSG profile picture is not uploading, the fix is usually straightforward once you identify whether the problem is your image file, your browser, or your account status.
Profile picture upload failures on LPSG are among the most common beginner frustrations, and almost all of them come down to one of four causes with clear solutions. This guide walks through each fix in order.
Why LPSG Profile Picture Uploads Fail
LPSG profile picture upload failures happen for four main reasons. First, the image file is too large — either in file size (megabytes) or pixel dimensions. Second, the image format is not supported — common with HEIC files from newer iPhones or WebP images from some sources. Third, a browser extension or security setting is blocking the upload request before it reaches LPSG’s servers. Fourth, a temporary server issue on LPSG’s end is preventing uploads from processing. Consequently, working through these causes in order resolves the problem without unnecessary troubleshooting.
Fix 1 — Resize and Compress Your Image
The most common cause of LPSG profile picture upload failure is file size. A photo taken on a modern smartphone in full resolution is typically between 3MB and 10MB, which often exceeds LPSG’s profile picture upload limits. Additionally, very high pixel dimensions — photos at 4000×3000 pixels or larger — may be rejected even if the file size is within limits, because the server processes the image dimensions during upload.
Resize your image to under 800×800 pixels and compress the file size to under 2MB before attempting to upload. On iPhone, edit the photo and use the export options to reduce size and on Android, use the Files app to compress images. On desktop, free tools like Squoosh.app resize and compress images in the browser without installing software. Furthermore, saving the compressed image as JPEG rather than PNG reduces file size significantly for photographic content.
Fix 2 — Convert Your Image to JPEG or PNG
If your image is in HEIC format — the default on iPhones running iOS 11 and above — LPSG’s upload system may not accept it. Additionally, WebP images downloaded from websites may not be supported. Converting to JPEG resolves both issues immediately. On iPhone, go to Settings, tap Camera, select Formats, and choose Most Compatible to save future photos as JPEG automatically. For existing HEIC files, email the image to yourself and save the email attachment — this converts it to JPEG automatically on most email clients.
On Android or desktop, open the image in any photo editor and save or export as JPEG. The free image tool Squoosh.app handles any format conversion in a browser window. After converting, attempt the LPSG profile picture upload again. Furthermore, PNG files that are very large in dimensions should be converted to JPEG as well, since JPEG compression typically reduces file sizes by 70 to 90 percent for photographic content.
Fix 3 — Disable Browser Extensions During Upload
Browser extensions — particularly ad blockers, privacy shields, and JavaScript blockers — occasionally intercept file upload requests and prevent them from reaching LPSG’s servers. The upload appears to process briefly before silently failing, or the upload button becomes unresponsive. Disabling all extensions temporarily and attempting the upload in a clean browser state confirms whether an extension is the cause.
Open a new incognito window in Chrome (Ctrl + Shift + N) or a private window in Firefox — these disable most extensions by default. If the profile picture upload succeeds in the incognito window, an extension in your regular browser is the cause. Re-enable extensions one by one in your regular window to identify the specific culprit, then whitelist lpsg.com in that extension’s settings. Additionally, if you are using a strict firewall or security suite, temporarily disable it during the upload attempt.
Fix 4 — Try a Different Browser or Device
If disabling extensions does not help, try uploading your profile picture from a completely different browser and if Chrome fails, try Firefox or Edge. If all desktop browsers fail, try from your phone’s browser. Successfully uploading from a different browser confirms the problem is browser-specific rather than with the image file or your account. Consequently, this cross-browser test takes thirty seconds and immediately narrows down the cause.
If uploads fail across all browsers on all devices, the issue is likely a temporary server-side problem with LPSG’s profile image processing. Wait a few hours and try again. Additionally, check whether other members are reporting upload issues by searching recent LPSG threads.
